It’s so exciting for me when I get a loving couple in the studio. That inspiring energy translates through the camera and creates beautiful images, like the ones of Gabriella and her hubby.

For her session, Gabriella chose two set ups, one of which was a black-on-black set. The artist in me really enjoys working with color-on-color because I get to play around with lighting and textures to separate the subject from the background to create depth and separation. I like to include edits in both black and white, as you can see in this session, so that my clients have a variety of options. That way they’re able to utilize different looks in different areas of their home. Although this look is classic and timeless, it’s not always easy. Not all images translate well without color, which means I have to play with contrast, shadows, highlights and clarity to make the image “pop.”

In the case of Gabriella and her hubby, these images came out perfectly and I was able to really capture the sweet essence of their relationship.
