Ana | Stunning Flagstaff Session

For Ana’s second pregnancy, she wanted to have a sunset session with a backdrop of greenery, aspens, and most importantly, water. She’d had a photo session in water for her first pregnancy and wanted to repeat and improve upon that experience.

Thankfully, I knew of just the place to get both aspens and water within a 10-minute drive from one another. Both are in VERY close proximity to our family cabin and it was just perfect!

In preparation for each session, I check the location to make sure that they will suit my mommies’ desires and my artistic vision for the shoot. My family and I went up to the cabin the day before to make sure that I’d have ample time to wake up the next morning and search for other locations if need be. Thankfully, that wasn’t necessary, and the locations worked beautifully, as you can see in the photos!

This session turned out beautifully, but it wasn’t without a few interesting twists. One concern was Ana’s safe arrival. There was a bit of rough road to drive in on, and I was worried that it would be too much for Ana. On top of that, the cell service is awful in this area, and even though I’d sent her a pin drop of my location on a map, I was afraid that she and her family wouldn’t be able to find me! When it was a few minutes passed their expected arrival time, I started heading up the road, anxiously fretting that they may not find me and we would lose the gorgeous sunset light. Thankfully, we eventually found each other, Ana was such a great sport, and the session went really well!

To add yet another twist to our adventure, I was quite a sight when Ana and her family first saw me! My husband and I bring out our Canam XRS on a trailer, and because I didn’t want him to have to unhook it, I decided to just take this side by side to the location of the shoot. Surprised is definitely the right word to describe how my clients felt to see me pull up in a conservative outfit, clad with goggles on my face and dust all over me! I have to throw a little bit of fun into the mix every once in a while!
